Power supply units for special application – space series TESD “SPACE” (TESD-SP) – are DC/DC converters of “SPACE” class in robust metal cases with mounting flanges and pin-side shielding. They include built-in input and output EMC filters and utilize no-optocoupler feedback. Lack of internal empty spaces and materials, which produce gases when used in vacuum, allows to apply TESD-SP units at all heights, up to “near-space”. The series retains pin-out and footprint dimensions of TESD and TESND series.
TESD-SP series consists of DC/DC converters TESD-SP-10, TESD-SP-20, TESD-SP-40, TESD-SP-80, TESD-SP-200, TESD-SP-300, TESD-SP-500 and TESD-SP-1000. The numbers state maximal output power in Watts, however to ensure long-term reliability the loading coefficient should be chosen from 0.7-0.8. Therefore, the series units are optimized for average power of 8, 15, 30, 60, 150, 250, 400 and 800 W respectively.
Electrical features: the units are designed for universal input of DC mains 27W (15-50 VDC). The series units include full set of service functions. Galvanic isolation of outputs significantly broadens the functional possibilities.
Constructional features: series units TESD-SP are made in compact dimensions and together with high efficiency the units achieve unprecedented power density of 27 to 65 W/inch3. Case base has stiffening ribs and also serves for conductive cooling. Considering that all components are constructively connected to the base and submerged in heat-transferring potting – resistance to and durability against mechanical stress is unique. Absence of optoelectronic components creates ability to work in environments with ionizing factors.
The units are optimal to be utilized in application fields 1, 2, 3 – for aerial objects at heights up to 15 km in unsealed and unprotected spaces: planes, drones, helicopters, hot air balloons and gliding devices, meteoprobes. Minimal weight and maximal efficiency – factors allowing the TESD “SPACE” series to ideally fit commercial and special applications in conditions where there are high demands for reliability and resilience to external acting factors, in application fields 4-6, 8, 9, 11.
